Local doctor named Chiropractor of the Year by Massachusetts Chiropractic Society

Dr. Steven C. Saro, a chiropractic physician, was named Chiropractor of the Year by the Massachusetts Chiropractic Society (MCS) at their convention in Sturbridge, MA. This award is given to the doctor who makes the greatest contribution to the advancement of the chiropractic profession in Massachusetts.

Dr. Saro has served as a member of the MCS Board of Directors since 1991. He is the current Legislative Chairman/Political Director for the MCS, a position he has held for 12 years. Dr. Saro is credited for his leadership in passing legislation that provides coverage of chiropractic services in the state Mass Health System. Mass Health provides state-funded medical care to indigent and disabled citizens in Massachusetts. Dr. Saro was also involved in the passage of this year's landmark "Healthcare For All" legislation, which provides some level of healthcare coverage for all Massachusetts residents.

Dr. Saro maintains a full-time chiropractic profession at 101 Broadway Road in Dracut. He lives in Westford with his wife Christine, daughter Kelsie (14), and sons Harrison (12) and Benjamin (22 months).

Following the presentation of the award Dr. Saro stated, "It is a great honor and privilege to be recognized by my peers, but I feel that this award is too big for any one person. I know first hand all the hard work my fellow Board Members do and the sacrifices they make for the advancement of our profession. The real winners this year are the poor and disabled who will now have direct access to needed chiropracitc services because of our efforts with the state legislature."
